Rael Jones is an Emmy and Ivor nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist. His writing often stems from improvisation and live performance, and he is a highly accomplished player of many instruments, from piano, guitars and drums, to more esoteric items like nyckelharpa, hurdy gurdy and hand pans.

RaelÔÇÖs most recent work has included scoring period drama┬áMrs Harris Goes To Paris,┬áTen Percent┬áfor Bron Studios and the BBC factual dramas┬áThe Sixth Commandment┬áand┬áThe Salisbury Poisonings.┬á

RaelÔÇÖs score to┬áSuite Fran├žaise,┬áwhich was directed by Saul Dibb and stars Michelle Williams, Kristen Scott Thomas and Sam Riley was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2017. The film is based on the Ir├Ęne N├ęmirovsky novels┬áabout the German occupation in France.

Rael wrote the music for Hulu & ITVÔÇÖs series,┬áHarlots, set in the 18th Century brothels of London. The boldly anachronistic soundtrack mixes rock and electronica, reflecting the present-tense experiences and rebellious nature of the┬áwomen depicted in the programme.┬á

His other scores include┬áSupersonic, the Oasis documentary from the producers of the Oscar-winning ÔÇťAmyÔÇŁ, the TV adaptation of Zadie SmithÔÇÖs┬áNW┬ádirected by Saul Dibb, the black comedy┬áIll Behaviour┬áfrom writer Sam Bain, the┬ácoming-of-age drama┬áKids in Love, and the feature documentary┬áStill the Enemy Within┬áabout the British Mining strikes of the 1980s.┬á

Rael has also contributed additional music for the four series of the BBCÔÇÖs hit drama,┬áSherlock, working with composers David Arnold and Michael Price. He was nominated for Emmys for his work on the series in both 2016 and┬á2017. Other additional composition credits include┬áEverest, Horrid Henry: The Movie┬áand┬áIsland.┬á

Known for being creatively adept, technically savvy, and flexible, Rael has adopted many roles on feature films including: music producer, orchestrator, music editor, music programmer, and session musician. Rael worked on Tom┬áHooperÔÇÖs film adaptation of┬áLes Miserables┬áas additional orchestrator, music editor and music programmer, for which he won a Golden Reel Award at the 2013 MPSE Awards.
